                       Katharine Hepburn's Brownies

     1/2  Cup           Butter
   2      Ounces        Unsweetened Chocolate
   1      Cup           Sugar
   2                    Eggs
     1/2  Teaspoon      Vanilla
     1/4  Cup           Flour,All-Purpose
     1/4  Teaspoon      Salt
     1/4  Cup           Walnuts,Chopped -- Optional

1)  Melt the butter and chocolate in a saucepan.  Remove pan from heat as soon as mixture is melted.

2)  Stir in the sugar, eggs and vanilla and beat the mixture well.

3)  Stir in the flour, salt and walnuts.

4)  Bake in a buttered and floured 8-inch square pan at 170° C (325° F) for about 40 minutes.
