Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
     1/2  Cup           Confectioner's Sugar
   1      Tablespoon    Butter
   1      Tablespoon    Milk
   1      Dash          Salt
     1/4  Teaspoon      Vanilla Extract
                        Food Colouring (a few drops)

1)  Melt the butter in the top of a double boiler.  Add the confectioner's sugar and mix well.

2)  Add the milk, the salt and the vanilla flavouring.

3)  Add more milk if the mixture is not thin enough, or more confectioner's sugar if the mixture is too thin.

4)  When mixture is the right consistency, remove pan from double boiler.  If using only one colour, add a few drops of desired colour to mixture, place in decorator tube and decorate cake.  If using more than one colour, divide the mixture according to the quantities you will need into separate bowls and then colour each separately.

Note:  This quantity is enough to decorate two cakes with one colour "Happy Birthday Emily! [Becky!] - n Years" and a trim.  It would probably be good to double the recipe if more than one colour is needed.
