     1/2  Cup           Butter -- Step 1
   2      Tablespoons   Water -- Step 1

   1      Teaspoon      Almond Extract -- Step 2
   3                    Eggs -- Step 2
   4      Tablespoons   Butter -- Step 3
   3      Cups          Powdered Sugar,Sifted -- Step 3
                        Cream or Milk -- Step 3
     1/4  Teaspoon      Almond Extract -- Step 3

1)  Cut butter into flour with pastry blender.  Add water and mixt like pie dough.  Make two balls of this dough and press into 2 strips (12x3 inches each) on an ungreased baking sheet.

2)  Bring the water and butter to a rolling boil.  Remove from the heat and stir in the flour and the almond extract.  Stir in the eggs one at a time and beat until smooth.  Spread evenly over the pastry strips.  Bake 60 minutes at 180° C (350° F).  Remove to cake racks.

3)  When cool, ice with browned butter icing.  Melt the butter and add the powdered sugar.  Thin the mixture carefully (so that it's thin enough to spread) with cream or milk and add the almond extract.
