     1/2  Cup           Red Lentils or Mung Beans
   1      Tablespoon    Ginger,Freshed,Chopped -- (1/2 to 1 Tbsp.)
     1/4  Teaspoon      Turmeric
   3      Tablespoons   Butter
   1      Tablespoon    Cumin Seed
   1      Teaspoon      Corriander Powder
   6      Cloves        Garlic,Chopped
     1/8  Teaspoon      Red Chilies,Ground

1)  Clean and rinse lentils well.  Cover with 3 cups of water and boil for 10 minutes.  Using a slotted spoon, skim off residue that accumulates while lentils are boiling.  Add additional water if necessary.

2)  Add ginger and turmeric, turn down the heat, cover and cook for 1/2 hour, adding water as necessary to keep mixture thin.

3)  Melt butter in a small pan and add spices.  Let it bubble vigorously for 10 minutes while stirring constantly.

4)  While still bubbling well, add as quickly as possible to bean mixture and cook at least another 15 minutes to 1/2 hour.
